WHY DO THIS?

We love our pets, but sometimes they can really make a mess! Follow these steps to get rid of pet stains as soon as they happen. Remember: Pets tend to return to the same place in the house when they’ve made messes before. It makes them feel as if it’s their place to make a mess.

EASY

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • 2 HOUSEHOLD RAGS
  • BUTTER KNIFE
  • CLEAR DISHWASHING LIQUID
  • PAPER TOWELS

HOW TO:

  1. 1

What’s that smell? First, use your nose and your eyes to find the soiled area.

  2. 2

Remove any solid residue by scraping the area with a dull knife.

  3. 3

Soak up as much of the urine or stain as possible with paper towels. It’s best to soak it up before it dries.

  4. 4

Mix together 1/4 teaspoon of clear dishwashing liquid with one cup of water and soak a rag in the solution.

  5. 5

Use this rag to blot the soiled area. If you rub, you will ruin the fibers of the carpet.

  6. 6

Once you’ve blotted with the dishwashing mixture, grab a clean towel and dampen it with clean water. Blot the soiled area with the clean towel.

  7. 7

Alternate between these two steps until the stain is gone.

  8. 8

Neutralize the area with baking soda. Sprinkle the area completely with baking soda when the carpet is dry and then let it sit overnight. The next morning, vacuum it up.
